Security Alarm Systems
The Control Panel is the brain of the system. It is an electronic board placed in a metal box that the keypads, zones and back-up battery wire in to. Every type of Control Panel has certain Keypads that are compatible with it. Operating instructions are determined by the type of Keypad that you have.
To determine the keypad you have:
1) Check for the manufacturer name on the Keypad
2) Select the picture that represents your Keypad
We install and service Paradox, DSC, GE, and Honeywell systems. The most common keypads are below with links to the Operating Manual. The Operating Manual includes instructions on Arming, Disarming, Changing User Codes, Bypassing, Trouble Codes, and Chiming Zones.
If your keypad isn't show please contact our technical support line.

Security Alarm Batteries
Wireless zones and remotes are powered by batteries. These batteries should be changed annually, just like your smoke detector batteries. Paradox equipment uses AAA and AA batteries.
Back-up batteries are large black batteries located in the Control Panel box. The purpose of the battery is to allow your system to continue to operate in the event of a power failure. These batteries typically last three to five years depending on the number and length of the power failures you experience. You can purchase these batteries from us.
Chiming
Alarm systems allow the occupant to decide which zones to chime when the zone is opened i.e. when the front door is opened, the keypad will make a chiming noise.
Telephone Line
Generally, your alarm system requires a POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) land-line to connect to the monitoring station for alarm conditions. However, we can also use the internet or a cellular back-up system to transmit signals. When changing telephone service providers, please ask if the line will support an alarm system. Most VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) systems are not supported by alarm manufacturers. If you're not sure, call us to discuss. Monitoring charges are different for internet or cellular back-up service and there is extra equipment needed.
